i'm trying to build a production rig that will be an all in one unit to run my camera and maybe some minor editing
there is what i have at the moment

ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9

here is my question i have no idea what video card to use any comment or tips on anything would be very helpfull thanks

do you think i should tone down the motherboard it has most of the option that i need and i figured it might also give me a little room for upgrades in the future

I think you shouldnt buy it at all. x58 is dead. The 950 was burried and forgotten about awhile ago.

8Gigs of ram won't work on an x58 board as it needs triple channel, (3/6/9 etc gigs)

For $1000 if you can get an i5 2500k 1155 setup, you'd get your best setup. Its also cheaper than the x5/950 chip.

come to think of it, buying what i have in my signature will pretty much be a good build for you. swap out my old 4870 for a 6770, and a professional series 550 watt corsair psu.

thanks I knew i came to the right place i've. I think i've been out of the loop to long on computer hardware

For the vidreo card, i don't advise you to "just" switch it to the 6670..

Encofding programs now have the ability to harness the gpu processer and dramatically increase the speed.
You should look into your programs and see if they benifit from gpu acceleration and then buy one that is supported...

I wouldnt buy the pro psu.... its abit pricey.. Any quality, Corsair, Antec, SeaSonic, Silerstone, will be great.

ok i've got a really stupid question and I'm almost to embarrassed to ask what is sandy bridges socket type intels web site shows support socket as FCBGA1224 or FCPGA988 new egg shows LGA1155, I was thinking about going with an i7 for long term plans "intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost)"
