Is the PC overheating? That will make any system run slower.

You could get SpeedFan to check.

dude, u said u want a high performance gaming computer, and u pick an Intel. If ur buying now get an X2 or a Dual Core Opteron, eith ther Opteorn 165, or a X2 3800+ or 4400+, not 4200+ not worth it with the shat l2 cache. With that you want a MSi K8n neo4-f Mobo, and with that you want G.SKill 2x1GB pc4000 Extreme ram, dun wry bout the ram compatibility it will get downclocked to pc 3200, but when you OC ur CPU, which you will soon, it will OC like mad.

Most people are overlooking another possible problem.

There could be hardware failure/virus/spyware/not taking into consideration of other apps running, etc
