I know this question is overkilled, but I was curious of your thoughts. I want to run games like bioshock and similar games. I want a Core 2 Duo CPU but im not sure which one. I also am not sure about MB's? I want to spend no more than $500 for the combo. Any suggestions?

For *just* the Motherboard and CPU? As long as you don't need SLI, I'd recommend the same stuff everyone else does around here:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Or if you don't need RAID, save $20 and get the DS3L.
For CPU go with:
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
Unless for some reason you don't want quad cores, in which case I guess you could get the E6750:
