Thank you for reading my thread. I found all the parts that consist in a computer for about $908.87. I found a quad core with 8mb of L2 cache,1033 fsb,2.4ghz, and of coarse 4 cores. I got the processor for $279.99. The mobo is $139.99 and is a nforce 650i SLI ATX mobo. The graphics card is a 8600 gt with a 580mhz coreclock and 256mb of memory for $99.99. I don't know if patriot memory is good but I can get about 2gb for $51.99. I was thinking for speed I would have a 1+0 raid going using four 80gb 7200rpm that cost 175.96 for all four. i figured that all these pieces would be good for a pretty nice gaming pc but not xtreme. Of coarse there is more but it isn't necessary to show. The one reason i picked the 8600gt is because it cost less than the 7900 card also it can support dx 10 and later i might get another for SLI. thank you for reading my thread leave any comments especially if i'm gonna waste a lot of money. I thought that I would add in that i would like it to be under $1,000.
Thank you

you will not get any good DX10 effects from the 8600gt, the 7900gs will give you better framerates, but the 8600gts will outperform the 7900gs in DX10 games.
also SLI is a waste of $$

Interesting first post.

Well SLI is never worth it, unless you play games on huge resolutions, such as 2560 x 1600 on a 30" LCD.

8600GT isn't worth it either, if you're looking to play games in DX10 mode. If you want to game in DX10, you should at least consider an 8800GTS. I know it's not in you're price range. Just get a 7900GS instead. It will offer more gaming performance, than an 8600GT.

Patriots are good memory. Specifically the Extreme Performance models, that come with a 4-4-4-12 timing.

If you want a fast hard drive, go for the Western Digital 750GB hard drive. It's only $20 more than those four smaller hard drives, you were going to RAID. It's on par with a Raptor's speed.
