would any 450watt generic power supply be stable enough for an old system like that?

also, i found the Intel Pentium 4 506 2.66 GHz 533FSB EM64T 1MB L2 Cache Skt 775 w/ similar specs as above to be close in price as the above system. would there be a significant improvement in general computing/gaming?

so thats 2 questions.
thx for the help.

watts doesnt mean much these days , when it comes to psus what one should really be lookin at is the amps psus arent built same and if youll look at several psus specifications of same wattage youll see they have diffrent amp rating , i guess that in general 450w psus should have enough amps on the rails to power up the system you asked about however when it comes to generic psus their amper rating is far from accurate they provide less power then claimed so after youll get a generic psu you might find that out the hard way and expirence crashes and bsods and remember when having a high qualtiy psu if it fails it wont take down any other components with it but alot of generic psu's will. just imagine how youll feel if youll get a generic psu and when it will fail it will take the hard drive down with it and what if it will take down the mobo and you got no warranty left , to make a long story short while its cheap to get a generic psu it may not be cheap at all in the long range , if you ask me it aint worth the risks

Edit: heres a list of psu brands in best to excellent to very good order
1) pc power and cooling
2) ocz & tagan (both have nearly identtical components and cooling as both made by same manufacutrer)
3) fortron fsp
4) enermax
5) antec
6) thermaltake

as for the question , with the intel there will be a significant improvement in multi tasking and a bit faster audio/video encoding over the amd , the gaming will likely be worse with the intel as amd cpus have a major advantage in that field , eitherway the graphic card is extremely weak and you wont be able to run most of todays games with it some youll probably be able to but not much and it will limit you to low resolutions and very low FPS , a little side note: the prescott core is intel's worst in terms of heat youll need to get a very good cooling if youll go for it
