PSU & Motherboard question

I just picked up a Gigabyte GA-MA770T mobo and I have a COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS-500-PCAR-A3 500W ATX12V V2.3 Power Supply. Do I need to have the 8(4+4)pin and 20(16+4)pin PSU connections going to the board or just one? Sorry for the newb question.

EDIT: I'm running an AMD Phenom II x3 720 black edition CPU, 4670 512MB GPU, 4GB Gskill 1600 of ram, 1 HD, 1 optical drive, 1 PCI wireless card, on Win7 64bit.

yes you do. the 20 or 20+4 pin is the main connector and the 8 pin (4+4) powers the cpu.
