Default psu

im looking at psu for my new ri im getting a sata optical drive and sata hdd
and the psu's all have 1 sata connection
is that sata connection just for the hdd power?
and then the molex goes into the optical drive

The SATA cable coming from the PSU, is just to power SATA hard drives. What are the specs of your system?

Is that the Antec Basiq 500W I suggested you? Well if it is, then that PSU will do fine. My internet seems slow when it comes to connecting with out of country websites.

No it's the Arctic Power. But I'd suggest this:
Antec TruePower Trio 430W PSU - With 3x 12v Rails 120mm Fan
...has more amps.

oh and i only have 25 pounds max to spend on a psu
ive used all my budget except for that

You need to reconsider that, because the power supply is the most important part. Or get this one:
