Default Processor Upgrade

so last summer i built a computer and it has a few problems
the computer i built:
Intel Celeron 345, Socket 478, 533 FSB, 3.06Ghz,

Intel D865GVHZ, Micro ATX Board, no AGP ): using built in video http://www.intel.com/products/mother...GVHZ/index.htm

Maxtor 100g hard drive SATA 150

512 Ultra DDR Ram

the processor has a cooling fan w/heat sink abviosly(sp)

and an aspire x-pack case http://www.apevia.com/product.php?pi...8ea5d98672622b

now the computer runs ok except when i run anything full screen it will tell me the processor is over heating, it tells me with intels little active monitor, it also wont play dvds full screen it will lock up, now this computer is not overclocked or any thing lke that. It also overheats when i run microsoft defender to do a full virus scan

I am wondering what i can do to fix this, would a P4 be a good upgrade, are celeron Ds good processors?
I am looking a p4s on ebay and i can get a 3ghz for <$100 with a faster bus speed and more cache
thanks for the help

Faster bus, more speed = more heat... which is your problem.

SSF's (Small Form Factor) tend to have more heat problems due to poorer air circulation. Your problem may be part of this, but I figure it is either:
A. Poor contact between HS and CPU.
B. Your HS fan is failing.
C. Your mobo's sensor is wrong/screwed.

Both options are good.

Celerons are basically gutted Pentium 4's. Both are big heat generators.
