Default Processor for my oldish/new motherboard

I'm running on a small budget & i have the 945GCT-M3 motherboard by ECS. It says it supports the latest intel core 2 duo, so does this mean that any core 2 would work? the mobo is a few years old but I'm just trying to find out before i spend money & waste it!

It will take any Core 2 Duo from the E4*** and E6*** series, according to the CPU support list here ECS Web Site
