it says FSB 100MHz, but whats the bus speed it says 403.6MHz, so if i cant go to 3.2GHz whats the max i can upgrade to?

I'm not sure, but you could always get one of those converters to go from 478 pin to 479 pin, and use a Pentium M cpu. Those have a 400MHz FSB.

maybe i'll just get a motherboard + cpu combo? wouldnt that be easier

Another question...i looked at my comp's specs on the sony website for my model, it says max memory up to 1gb, but this other program i used called esupport bios agent said a max up to 2gb...should i go for the 2gb?

If it says 1Gb max on sony's site, then I'd go with that. I saw somewhere that it could run a 2.6GHz Northwood with a bios update. I'd email tech support at sony or asus, probably asus, to find out for sure.
