problem: system boot error

i replugged some IDE cables for better outlook (there was no changes). Then when i turned on the comp. it said "system boot error. please insert system disk" just before loading windows in BIOs. Then i tried putting my windows installation CD in the CD drive and changed my first boot device to CD and second to HD then it worked. Then i tried to restart the comp and changed first boot device back to HD and second to CD the system boot error message appeared again. Can anyone help me with this?

P.S: i even tried system restore

Make sure the cables are plugged back in all the way and that they are not reversed.

Also try another Cable if you have it.

Once you switched to CD for boot device and it worked did you install windows?

no, it said press any key to install windows or something but i skipped tht by pressing for few secs then it started loading windows
