I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 620 MT desktop and would like to add
a sound card to it (ASUS Xonar DX 7.1). The sound card would fit in one of
the available PC Express x1 slots but the problem is that it also requires a
feed from the power supply via a floppy disk drive connector.
The Dell has provision for 2 optical drives. Would these be supplied via 4 pin
molex connectors and if so would it be feasible to use the spare one to power
the sound card (using a 4 pin molex to floppy disk adaptor cable) ? If so
would the required length of this cable be a problem ?
I am totally clueless in this area so would appreciate any advice from someone
more experienced.
