Possible hardware upgrades for laptop?

What are some budget hardware upgrades i could possibly do to make my laptop perform better. I don't need graphics but i would love to do something about them if i could. My laptop is a sony vaio VGN-CR490 with 2.5 gig of ram

The only items that are easy to upgrade on a laptop is the ram and hard drive.

With 2.5gb of ram there is not much room for more ram especially if you have a 32bit OS.

A new hard drive would give you more space but no real performance increase unless you went for a ssd drive which can be real expensive.

His point was that it is very difficult to change out the CPU in laptops.
