Default Please recommend hardware for 3D rendering

I have the task of verifying our new guy's PC requirement. His main duties would include 3D rendering of various architectural structures (residential homes/palace) using AutoCAD 2006, 3D Studio Max 2009, and VRay 1.5 SP2.

This guy was asking for the following specs: (most important)
1. Intel Core i7 930
2. Asus P6T Motherboard
3. 12 GB RAM
4. NVidia GE Force GTX 285 1GB
5. Windows XP 64-bit

I found a similar set (HP Pavilion HPE-170 only OS is Windows 7 Home) and it is quite expensive. I want to know if his requirement is too much and if not, what would be the best hardware/software setup?

Thanks a lot! =)
