I have a BIOSTAR P4M900M4 478 VIA P4M900 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard (specifications below) and in the BIOS, the maximum setting I can set the CPU Clock Speed is 265MhZ. What is this and how is this related to the speed of the actual CPU? I just want to make sure I am getting the most out of my new CPU and motherboard. My CPU is an Intel Pentium 4 (Northwood, model SL6WK)

CPU speed is the CPU clocking. You CPU is probaly a 3.0GHz one. 3.0GHz is 3000MHz. The CPU is derived from its FSB speed and its multiplier. This CPU has a default clock speed of 200MHz, quad-pumped to 800MHz. The multiplier for this CPU is 15. 800 X 15 = 3000MHz.

Download a program called CPU-Z and post a screenshot of what it shows.

agreed with Peter.. also by max of 265 thats the highest your FSB can be if you overclock... so unless your an overclocking person, then don't worry about it
