Can I assume it's alright?

I've switched AMD retail fans before from higher models to lower models (X2's, s754's) but haven't done it with different technologies (Dual vs Quad).

If it's on the same socket, same motherboard, and for a lower end CPU, I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work.
