Is there a noticeable performance difference between using two sticks of 2GB DDR2 800 vs. four sticks of 1GB DDR2 800. The price is the same +-$5 or 10(total).

I play some games here and there but anymore it's mostly an internet surfing, movie watching, music playing, data storing machine.

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, dual channel (which is what I assume you are talking about) was meant to keep the RAM from bottlenecking the processor. In theory it would allow your processor to run faster, but in practice there hasn't actually been a big difference. Don't take my word for it though, this was what I figured out through like an hour of research months ago.

If you aren't talking about duel channel memory, then no, there is no performance difference. I would prefer the 2gb, simply for the space efficiency.

you should be fine with what ever you choose.

for your needs, you will not "see" the difference between 2 gigs and 4 nevertheless 4x1 and 2x2.

but since ddr2 is so cheap now, you may as well go ahead and get 4gigs. (2x2 or 4x1)
