Default PCI Slot Versions and Video Cards

I'm new to the forum and I apologize if this was addressed already, or in the wrong section. I did a search of the forums and couldn't find any answers.

Alright..... My computer is about 3 years old and has PCI v1.0 slots. I'm currently using a geforce mx4000 pci 1.0 video card.

I need to upgrade the card and I can find normal PCI cards BUT they are all PCI v2.0 slot cards....

SO i need to know...can a PCI2 card work in a PCI1 slot??

I hope i didnt confuse anyone...cuz lord knows i am.

Well... I've never heard of those 'versions' before. If it's only 3 years old, I'm pretty sure you'd have the most current of those regular PCI slots because they're ancient as it is. Look into an nVidia 6200 card in the PCI interface. They're new!
