My video card I had went bad, so i want looking for a new card. The card that I was looking at is pci-e 2.0, and my mobo is for pci-e 1.0. The card says it is compatible, just what is the loss in putting a 2.0 video card in a 1.0 mobo? Is it worth spending the money for a new mobo?

Also I have a amd cpu, and I know there are AM2 and AM2+ cpus sockets, so what is a AM3 mobo?

Pretty much none, you lose on a few features, maybe like 1/10th of a frame.. so nothing big..

AMD is the brand, AM2, AM2+, AM3 are sockets for newer AMD processors..

All 3 have 940 pins, and are backwards compatible (except AM2 and AM2+ can't be put on the AM3 board, but the rest of the combos do work)
