im on a tight budget and was thinking of upgrading to a new system because my old one died on me. i had two processors in mind. which would be better? a

these are the only parts in my price range. which would be better for light gaming and maybe some word processing and web surfing?

Since you were looking at intel and amd, I'm assuming you need a new motherboard too? What socket do you have now?

You should go for AMD socket 939. Get the AMD Athlon 64 3000+...a great processor for $55. Way better then the intel and amd you looked at.
