I am helping my co-worker build a PC for recording music and art. He said he has pro-tools, which I am not that famillar with. Does he need a really good sound card or something from m-audio to go with pro-tools?

Also, do you guys think a dual core chip is the way to go considering what he is going to be doing?

Thanks

for my setup, I have an M-Audio Delta Omni Sudio (built on Delta 66 PCI card)

IT IS WONDERFUL. Quality mic preamps, phantom power, 6 ins total. Not only that, but you can buy multiple of the same card and run up to 4, I think, Omni Studios.

I highly recommend M-Audio.

What do you think the kind of processor he needs? Im thinking maybe a 3.4 intel? And does that m-audio product work with protools? He said his limit is $2000, which seems pretty high for what he wants to do. Anyone reccomend a raging music setup for around that price?

Have you considered a mac for recording sound? This is where they do shine.

M-Audio cards are great, and their cheap, but if you want a real card look at cards like the Lynx Two and brands like MotU, RME ect.

prolly average video, proc, mobo, 512 RAM. medium sized HD,

and then something like the audigy 2 ZS platinum and or maybe some other audio gear to add to it.
