im not new to PC's but i am slightly "uneducated". Computer courses never seem to teach me what i want to learn and leave me... confused :freak: .
i'd like to see if anyone here minds takin me through the hoops and showing me the components to a PC and what the terms behind them stand for.
ex: 500 watt CPU, 512 MB RAM stick
im happy with what you give me so anything to help me understand the separate parts will leave me satisfied (although, the more the better).
_.:Thanks again:._
i prolly should just let somebody more helpful , help you out, but ill give it a try.
cpu= processer:
core speed in GHz (2.0GHz's or better is a good number)
dual core = 2 cores (hehe)
quad core = 4 cores
cache is in MB's , the more the better, 4-12MB's is the norm in 2days cpu's
mobo=motherboard
all you need to know here is compatibility
what kind of ram (memory) it can take and how many slots
also dual channel or tripple channel(new x58 boards_)
does it have onboard graphix (meaning needs no video card)
what kind of cpu can it hold (775 socket, 1366 socket, am2/am2+ ect)
what kind of pci slots does it have (pci-e 2.0, pci-e, x16 , agp, ect)
does it have sata or ide connecotors (for the drives like dvd, hard drive, ect)
other compatibility stuff
video card:
what slot does it fit in (agp, pci, pci-ex16, ect)
how much memory, in MB's the more the better, 512 and 1024 are good numbers
what is the core speed of the gpu in it , in GHz, the higher the better (500+ is good number)
what kind of memory (ddr, ddr2, ddr3, ddr5) ddr3 is standard in most cards these days
what kind of connectors on the back of card, vga, dvi, hdmi
hard drive:
capacity in GB's or TB's the more the better (1TB = 1000 GB's)
cache size in MB's get 16+ here
psu= power supply:
watts just because its a higher number than another psu doesnt mean its better
how many 12v rails does it have and what are the amps on these rails
what efficiancy does it run (80%+ is good)
is it sli capable (sli is running 2 or more nvidia cards at same time with a bridge)
is it crossfire capable (crossfire is runnign 2 or more ati cards like the above)
my brain is empty, hope any of this helped lol.
if im wrong about anything, somebody will correct me hopefully.
