Default pc crashing

Just added 512mb to my existing 256mb since i did that my comp has beenn crashing like loads any one know what the prob is?

i assume both have diffrent timings, you need to find the optimal timings for both to work stable togheter , play with the timings in the bios also try to set em to *optimal* if you got that option and after every change test the stabiltiy with memtest86+ http://www.memtest.org/download/1.65...+-1.65.iso.zip (i suggest youll let it do at least 11 passes)

they are both pc3200 so both 400mhz but i have a feeling i have them clocked down different amounts! Not sure how to change the bios though?

Run memtest86 on the 512 stick. If it comes up with any errors then send the ram back.

Changed the bios to optimized and the system seems to be working better but i have loads of tiny red dots scattred across my desktop
any ideas
