Default PC from 2006 needs an upgrade!

So my parents are using my first PC I built back in 2006. 3200+ Venice(haha). I figured why not give them a little bit of an upgrade. The nephew is always over at their house on the PC too. I can keep using the case (CM Centurion 5).

Currently has this power supply: Newegg.com - FSP Group SAGA+ 400R 400W ATX12V Power Supply . Five years old, can I/should I keep using it?

CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Pentium G620 Sandy Bridge 2.6GHz 2 x 256KB L2 Cache 3MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80623G620
MB: Newegg.com - BIOSTAR H61MGC LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
HDD: Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda ST3250312AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Vid: Newegg.com - ASUS ENGT430 DC SL/DI/1GD3 GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Drive: Newegg.com - LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS-324-98B
RAM: Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

$343 including shipping. The cheaper the better but I can't see me getting much cheaper than this and still keep it at the same bang for the buck level, right?

The nephew plays counter-strike 1.6/source. And I'm sure he'll play the new CS: Global Offensive when it comes out.

1. Will the vid card be able to run Source/GO at good settings?
2. Should I stick with the Sandy or go with the Wolfdale? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116381
3. Stick with the GT 430 or go with the Radeon HD 4670? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161315
4. They mentioned that the PC from time to time will freeze up randomly, no error message or anything. That a sign of the hard drive going bad? I'd like to keep the hard drive but it is five years old. How long do they usually last?

The power supply will power that card with no problems, so I'd keep it. FPS does make good psu. Theres really not much esle you can do for your bang for the buck.. Even the lower end "i" cpu's are beastly.

I don't know about CS, sorry

The GT 430 will destroy CS: Source. I don't know about the new the counterstrike though.

How would you compare the G620 to this Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X2 270 Regor 3.4GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX270OCGMBOX ? Also I was looking around for some rebates on the video cards..

Newegg.com - Galaxy 25SGF6HX1RUV GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

and this

Newegg.com - XFX HD-667X-ZHF3 Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Would the PSU be able to handle either card?

Based on review (and personal preference) I would say go for the Intel. And the 6670 is a better way to go, if you can squeeze it in your budget. As far as the card and PSU working in harmony, the minimum for that card, according to AMDs site, is 400w.

Sticking with the G620. I prefer the GTS250, but I may just go with the 6670 because it looks like the gts250 requires more power. I think I'd be cutting it close with my PSU if I were to go with the GTS250.

You could go with this:
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
bundled with:
BIOSTAR A880G+ AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

$132.98

That would give you a shot at potentially unlocking one or two more cores on the CPU.

Interesting. I'll look into it. What do you think about the PSU/GPU situation. Think the PSU will be able to run the gts250?

I doubt your PSU can handle it as it is only 400W and is only pushing 34A on two rails.

Would this PSU do the trick? Higher wattage and more amps on the 12v rails. For $35 after the discount/mail-in-rebate. Looks like a nice deal.

Newegg.com - OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

Also, question the the motheboard. Under the overview it says, " CPU Type: Core i7 / i5 / i3 (LGA1155)"

Will it work with the Pentium Sandy?

Newegg.com - Intel Pentium G620 Sandy Bridge 2.6GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623G620
Newegg.com - MSI H61M-E33 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-4GBXL
Newegg.com - OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom
Newegg.com - Galaxy 25SGF6HX1RUV GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Final revision. $235 after the discounts and mail in rebates. I'm buying this later tonight after I get the OK from you guys.
