So at Best Buy, they only had this enclosure labelled "PATA", no mention of SATA on it, or IDE. I asked the staff if it's compatible with a SATA hard drive and he said it is, but not in a way that makes me believe him. I looked up some stuff online, SATA is more recent technology, PATA is older, correct?

Anyway, should i return this thing, i have a SATA drive that i need an enclosure for.

thanks

I need to trust my instincts, should have not listened to that guy....

Good thing i avoided opening the box huh?

Thanks for letting me know.

they do make adapters to use ide with sata connectors. but then thats the added cost that he didnt tell you about. but buy an ide drive if you can find one.

my bad, i read too fast. yes just get a sata enclosure

Don't buy an IDE drive. Take back the enclosure. IDE drives are slower, and more expensive. No way its worth it.
