Default Old PC needs a boost

Looking at a office pc that currently can't look at PDF documents over 5 pages without choking to death. Specs are
1.5 tb 7200rpm hss
512 mb ddr2 ram
Celeron D 346 LGA755

For reasons unknown my boss refuses to get a new one so looking for upgrades...would the choking be caused by the ram or the CPU while trying yo view multi page PDF files? Thanks

Well you're pretty screwed. The best CPU you can put in it is a Pentium D 820. I would toss another 512 stick and the PD 820 and see what happens.

Edit: you'll only be able to use 533, so updated the link.

Might be able to do this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2GB-DDR2-PC4...item56436dad49

Well easy answer is check to see how much ram is being used while you're viewing the PDF.
