Default Old AS5?

I still have a partially used tube of Arctic Silver 5 from 3 years ago when I last built my PC.

Would this be optimal to use in my new one or should I go buy new thermal compound?

i really dont believe silver expires but being its 3 years old, i think there are better pastes to use for todays hotter cpu's. its like 10 bucks anyway so whats a new tube to protect a 200 dollar cpu.

It *should* be fine. There are no other proper thermal pastes that are better. Just get a new stick if it doesn't look right when you start to squeeze it out.
