Some suggestions:

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W
...Higher quality than Thermaltake.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB
...This is on par with the Raptor's speed.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (From ClubIT.com)
...Guaranteed G0 stepping. Consumes less power than the B3. Newegg doesn't guarantee that.

will a 10k rpm hd make a difference over a 7200 with my os on it? and the reviews on that mobo make me cautious about it. sorry for being a pain, its just a lot of money and i want to run into as few problems as possible.

It used to, but now the 7200rpms are the same in performance at the 10krpms

Are you talking about the P35-DS3R? Where are you reading that kind of review? A majority of this forum, is using the DS3R. But the Abit IP35 Pro is a really good motherboard too. I haven't heard bad things about it.
