OEM -vs- Retail ?

there should be cables with your motherboard, but if you don't have them then yeah you should buy the cables.
 
yeah cables should be provided with motherboard, if not just buy them. i always buy optical drives, hdd's, OS's and where possible PSU's OEM. these things don't need anything else other than the main product and the extra cost of a box with pretty colours and a poorly written instruction manual is a waste of money
 
I have tried calling MS for tech support on my OEM XP os, and they wanted to charge me like $36 or some crap. He made me read stuff off the CD to verify whether it was retail or OEM, after he determined it was OEM, he kept telling me to call the pc manufacturer, and I kept telling him I built it. I wanted to reach through the phone and choke his foreign ***. Then while I was still on the phone with him I figured out my problem, threw it in his face, then hung up on his ***.
