o/s problem

i am bulding a pc and its taking FOREVER to install windows xp pro and and when i hit f8 it says no hdd is found but the thing is that the hdd is recongized in the bios

How are your drives(hdd,cd/dvd etc) connected and to what cables?
Primary master, slave etc..

dvd burner slave
cd rom cable select'

but it only reads the hdd and dvd burner in the bios it doesnt read the cd rom drive which i dont understand what am i doing wrong

Set your hdd as Primary master, DVD burner as Secondary master, and cd as Secondary Slave.
Remember that you should set the jumpers for all the drives too.
