Default Notebook Harddrive Troubles

I have a notebook harddrive, Toshiba to be exact, pulled it our of a laptop for a customer, it just kept the little white line blinking, so he just wanted me to pull the photos of the HD, i have a notebook to standard IDE adapter hooked up to a HD enclosure, when i turn the enclousre on, the HD doesnt show up, is there jumper settings that i dont know about, cause there is none on the HD.....

Must be a computing error

When we do data migrations at my work we just do a laptop hd to ide adapter and hook it up directly to and ide ready desktop and drag all of the files off, we don't do anything with an enclosure.
