Question Nostalgia upgrade

I just acquired a Compaq Presario 1277. It has 192 mb RAM ( maxed out), an AMD K6-2 433 Processor (100mhz FSB) and a 4.8gb hard disc. I just got the 40gb 2.5" hdd that I won on ebay and am waiting for the K6-2 533 AFX that I also won. OK so here is the problem. HP/Compaq said that the mobo would support the 533mhz but I didn't stop to think before I acted (bad move) and need to determine that the processor I bought will work in my laptop as well as in a desktop model. Any assistance would be truly appreciated.

OK I'll answer my own post. Yes, the processer fits. It is a direct replacement for the AMD K6-2 433 The trick is that the bios in this system is old and NOT upgradable, so... the faster processor really did no good. SO I'm not gonna waste the 40gb hdd on this as it will likely have the same issue. It won't be recognized by the bios so it will only use 4 gb. Oh Well thats what the project was about LEARNING.
