Greetings,
Building my 1st do-it-yourself PC and having an issue getting sound to work. Here is what I'm working with:
ASUS M2A-VM HDMI Motherboard with AMD 4800+ dual core
Windows XP Home
The ASUS software installs a System Hardware device called:
Realtek High Definition Audio
There are no device manager issues or unknown devices etc. and no IRQ conflicts.
In the Device Manager details of the Realtek device, there is NOT an IRQ assigned at all. It says it is installed to location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio). In the "Resources By Type" view, it does not appear at all in the IRQ list. But it is there on the "Devices By Type" view.
The rest of the PC behaves as though there is sound installed. The Realtek software runs fine and plays sounds and tests it thinks I am hearing. The XP volume controls all appear.
I have uninstalled from device manager and it always re-installs the same way.
Any thoughts on what the issue could be?
