Hi guys
I made my intro and asked a question in the intro forum.

I wanted to ask the question here instead.

I replaced my CPU on an LGA775 Gigabyte motherboard and I can not get the unit to boot up.
I tried to remove the battery on the board for 15 minutes to try to reset the CMOS.

Is there something I am missing?

Thank you in advance.

I forgot to add those details.

I did check the Gigabyte website to make sure they were compatible.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8I945GZME-RH
old CPU: Intel Core 2 6300 @ 1.86 GHz
1.4 GHz

new CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333 MHz FSB, 45NM

3.25 G of RAM

I did go to the Gigabyte website to update the motherboard.
When I go there, I just download the latest on the list as it fixes all past problems correct??

There is an edit button so you can add to your original post rather then double posting. Its general formum etiquette to edit rather then add.

Board could be dead or psu or gfx. Does anything power on at all? like fan movement

According to gigabyte's web site that motherboard does not support the e8500 or any other 45nm Core 2's

Ya, 945GZ's don't have any support past the original Core 2 Duo's Conroes that were not 6x50's..

Check out the Biostar TP45HP if you need a solid cheap board

Why not just overclock your E6300? Doesn't the E6300 crap out at about 3.3ghz?

So you'd still be able to get decent performance out of your old chip.
