Default New Rig Need New Video Card

Got a new rig for light gaming... planning on upgrading ram but that's for another day. Just wondering the most practical card for this machine seeing as it's no high end rig. Mostly want to play Battlefield 2.
Quote:
Processor:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Motherboard: AsRock K8 Combo-Z
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Hard Drive: 80 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 (Microsoft Corporation)
Monitor: Dual 19-inch Flatscreen LCD
Sound Card: Realtek AC97 Audio
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3
P.S. I believe all that i have is an agp 8x slot.

The best card you can get is a 3850. Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR AG3850 512MD3-P Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Depending on what games you play you could go for that, or if you don't play anything too intense or your happy with low settings try this : Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR X1650PRO 512M AGP Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 8X Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

MX4000? Yeah, you definitely need a new card.

Even a 6200 would be a huge step up for that rig. Buy whatever fits your budget.

Go with the 3850 Redmoon mentioned, although, that depends on how good your psu is. Do you have any details on it?

3850 will compliment that dual core very well.

Also, what type of psu are you running? If on a budget a 380W Earthwatts will do you well.

Get at least another gig of ram if your motherboard can support it.

Good thing is the HD3850 is a good overclocker, and its a dual core cpu so game performance will be very good.
