Default New PSU and Videocard in Sony VGC-RA840G (yuck, I know)

I hope Everest did its job:
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 5.1.2600
Computer:
OS Service Pack Service Pack 3
DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)
Motherboard:
CPU Type DualCore Intel Pentium D 820, 2800 MHz (14 x 200)
Motherboard Name Unknown
Motherboard Chipset Intel Lakeport i945P
System Memory 1024 MB (DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (05/18/05)
Video Adapter ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series (128 MB)

Motherboard 05/18/2005-LakePort-P5LP-VX-00
Motherboard 1001
Motherboard DMIMOBO: ASUSTek Computer INC. P5LP-VX
Motherboard DMISYS: Sony Corporation VGC-RA840G

I have a Cosair 450W psu for my new EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT KO.
When I installed Cosair, I got an error message that said the fan wasn't detected, though it spins fine. BIOS outdated, right? (three years out of date)
I finally found that it's an AUStek motherboard in the debug section of the Everest report, though now I can't find the model number.

So close! And I'll for sure need a hard disk to update my BIOS when(!) I find the update with your help, right?
How self-sufficient is a BIOS update? Meaning: How easily can I screw it up?

Help anyone? Thanks in advance.

Apparently I got it:
Asus p5lp-vx motherboard
Problem is, Sony built it custom and never (surprise!) released any BIOS updates for it.
...Now where are those return receipts...?

If there are no bios updates, then you're out of luck.

However, for reference, some motherboards give small applets that essentially allow you to drag an updated bios file onto it, and then it'll restart your computer, flash the bios and install your new one, and then restart again with the new bios. That's what I was able to do with my computer.

Seems Sony is sticking me here. Thanks for the reply anyway, rkagin.
