once you know, you newegg.........go to newegg for ur parts...lowest prices..and shipment is insane..i ordered a vid card on aug 23 ..and got it on the 25 ..lol with the cheapest shipment available..

Have a look at my guide at the top of this section. That should get you on the right track. If you have anymore questions after the guide, feel free to post back here:D

Look everything up on NewEgg, but check with zipzoomfly.com before you buy.

Their prices are close to NewEgg's, but the free shipping can make the difference.

If you build it, you can build a pretty kickass computer for just under 1k:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939 processor... ~$145
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard... ~$120 ($25 rebate)
NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT graphics card... ~$160 ($15 rebate)
TwinMOS 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512)... ~$85
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value sound card... ~$60 ($25 rebate)
Good case and 500 watt power supply... ~$200
Set of nice speakers... ~$30-80

So far that is between $800 and $850 before the rebates. You still have plenty of cash left over. Maybe you can go with a 3500+ instead or even a 3700+ or 3800+. You could even go with a 6800 GT if you wanted also.

you can go a long way with 1000 bucks. might i sugjest (and i am no expert)
=processer- athlon 64 3500+ Venice
=video card- radeon x800pro
=mobo- DFI nF4-DAGF Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4
=case- ASPIRE X-Alien ATXA7AW-BL/420 Blue Aluminum Server Computer Case 420W Power Supply
=RAM- OCZ Enhanced Latency 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit
=Moniter- Polyview S17E 2-Tone 17" 8ms LCD Monitor

that looks excellent to me, and it totals to 990 bucks, without tax and shipping. if that is too much i would choose a slightly cheaper case.
