New PC

Hi, I'm in the market for a new PC and am looking for some pointers.

I will only be using the computer to search the internet and download songs and a couple of videos.

First off, should I go Apple or PC? It seems like there are a million viruses out there hitting PCs. Would getting an Apple keep viruses away?

Second, is there a big price difference between building one and getting one done from say Dell?

First off, don't care about viruses. Its not even a topic to consider when thinking about PCs. There are so many free programs that prevent harm that it is virtually virusfree.
Second, The price difference differs from build to build. But in general, it is way cheaper to build than to buy, especially from Dell.

i would recommend a build, run a search on building tutorials there are several good ones, saves money, great learning experience.

If you mainly want security, run a version of Linux built for security. They are free and are less likely to have a problem than Windows or Mac.

Building your own PC will be the cheapest and highest quality route.
