I'm looking to buy a new notebook under the $1,000 mark. Can anyone tell me about the quality of a Toshiba and where I can read reviews on other models. Thanks.

Consumer Reports is a good site for various reviews of things. It's well trusted (I've heard). I've never used it, but even Inside Edition (that TV News Show) often has reports on household items from them.
