Im in the market for a new monnitor. I have been looking at both LCD and CRT. I like CRT for the great resolution and response time. I have been looking for a LCD with 8ms response, 600:1 ratio or better and Brightness better than 300 cd/m2. Have found some but wanted to know if anyone out there had some experience with a monitor like this?

I'd have to say i'm a big LCD fan, i just love them :p. They take up less space, the colors they produce are more vivid than CRT's, and most of all, they don't hurt my eyes. I spend a lot of time staring at my monitor and my eyes don't hurt, where as i've been on a CRT monitor for about 30 minutes and i could feel my eyes taking a beating. I'm going to upgrade to a bigger LCD sometime soon, maybe a 19inch. I'd say stick to about 8ms or lower. Do yourself a favor, buy an LCD.

the 3rd one is kickass and the best of the three. (vp191b)...its also a great price, the cheapest ive ever seen it.

The only problems with the Viewsonic is it is an open box item and I worry about dead pixels and it has a 8ms response time for gray to gray but a 20ms response time with black to white to black. The other monitors all have a true 8ms response time from black to white to black.

I have the phillips 170S6FB.
It is a 17" LCD with a 12ms response time and 500:1 contrast ratio.
It works brilliantly. LCD is sooo much better than CRT

Ive researched the crap out of this topic, Trust me. Its one of the most consistently fast 19" LCDs on the market. Plus being a mva type panel it also has good viewing angles better color and better for movies.....
