Modern VGA can do up to 20481536. I'd call that high-res. Personally I've done 1080p over VGA (from my laptop to my monitor).

EDIT: Doesn't it go by a different technical name for the high-res versions?

QXGA or something like that?

Or is Wikipedia really full of ****? :P

You're confusing VGA the connector, and VGA the resolution.
