New gaming computer

So now the question becomes this:

I think I've built a pretty decent gaming computer for $750. Do I lose a significant amount of performance if I built a gaming machine for $500? On the flip-side, do I gain a significant amount of performance by spending $1000? Given the games my friend wants to play, I'm trying to gauge how much money one ought to spend on a machine.

You can push the envelope and spend all you want... but it will become out-dated some day.

For $500 you can build him a nice gaming rig that will handle what he wats just fine. $750 will do the same and give some room for newer, more demanding games.

Basically, whatever he is willing to spend.

it looks like mine, except i have an asus 9600gt, and went with the asus board. i originally got the p35 ds3l right before they discontinued it, and mine came DOA.

750 is plenty for a computer, spend extra cash on a nice monitor...
