Default New computer blues?

Well guys, i think its time to upgrade. I was looking at this sweet gaming rig with an intel core 2 duo E6600, 7600 gt, 2 gigs of ram, 500 gig harddrive ect for MEGA cheap (under 800 cdn). Now i was wondering, if for like single core games such as Counter strike and whatnot will both threads run or will it be just a single thread running? Would this be mybest bet, or should i go for a FAST single core?

I would go with a dual core since the price is so low. Its only a few dollars more. You can get an AMD 3600+ X2 ($60 US) or an Intel E2140 ($80) and you can overclock them very far.
