Default new computer

My dad is thonking about getting a new computer
upgrading from an amd k6 2 500mhz 10gbhdd 192mb ram
do you guys think this will be good?

I built my dad a comparable machine for about $300 (estimate after parts I should have bought but didn't need to.) If you can you can reuse CD drives, floppy drives, etc.

Its a good computer for a low price, just dont forget the ram, and just build it.
