Hi guys,

I just bought a new desktop as my old one finally kicked it. Its an IBM with p4 2.26ghz, 256 DDR, and a 40 gig hard drive (IBM NetVista 830531U). I know its a piece of junk, but I'm just hoping it will be as fast as my old one (Athlon 1.3ghz)...

Anyways, the PC has onboard sound and video cards...I couldn't tell you what type. I'm just wondering if it would be good to take my old vid and sound card and put them in this new PC.

My video card is a Geforce 2 or 3 (I think it's MX200), with 64 mb of memory. The sound card is an old Soundblaster from around 2001. Would these parts still be superior to the onboard ones, or should I just leave it be?

Also, if I want to put my old HD into this PC do I simply set it to 'slave' and toss it in?

Your expertise is appreciated! :)

Dave

the card will handle the video stuff so the memory wont be shared, thus having a vid card is somewhat of an improvement
