New Cd-Rom Drive

Hi All,
I have just recently bought a new game (Age Of Empires Collectors Edition) but it is a Dvd-Rom. Is there a possible way to make my cd-rom drive read a dvd-rom and if not I will buy a new drive. If I need to buy a new drive is it as easy as unplug the old drive then plug in the new one and go? Will they fit into the same plug inside the harddrive box?

i cannot believe people are still on CD-ROM's. anyway, yes they are same, IDE connectors and will just stick in, no problems.

I am using SONY (ROM) and Pioneer (DL-DVD/RW), both worked well, neither gave up on me, But I'll recommend Pioneer over Sony. however Plextor comes at top, but they are expensive.
