Default New Build after SandyBridge gone-help!

I had a build ready to go... and then the Sandybridge went out of stock due to malfunction errors.

So here is the start of a new build. This is a computer I need within the next week. I will be keeping my video card (Geforce 8800 gts) until I actually start gaming in about 6 months. This is for general use/multitasking, watching blue rays, etc. I want this computer to last and the budget is around ~500-600 not including monitor.

I have no idea about the motherboard!

CPU: - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

(is 8gigs necessary?) - ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

HD: - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

XTRA FAN: - MASSCOOL FD08025S1M4 80mm Case Fan

Concerns? Any areas to save? Thanks in advance for the help!

Heres an easy way to save $20, buy a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Instead of the 965 you listed. You can overclock it to the specs of the 965.

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

You could throw a aftermarket heatsink into your build aswell. It should keep the CPU cooler and have a quieter fan, especially if you plan to overclock.

Aftermarket Heatsink
Cooler Master RR-910-HTX3-G1

Build to be updated, a reminder to myself.

Agreed, and it's easy overclocking too. You could even probably go a little further than the 965's clock speed, rather than just match it.
