Building a new CAD System for Civil3d, Do you think this is a overkill?

Spending about $2400 on parts, building it myself!

Yes, definite overkill.

One 460 will be plenty for what you want. 12GB is a nit much, but it is up to you.

Don't get a VelociRaptor as it is a waste of money. Grab two of these 64MB cache WD Black's and put them in a RAID0 if you want super fast, other wise just use one for the OS drive.

The Big Bang is a nice board, but more then you will ever use. Look at the Sabertooth instead.

The OCZ Onyx 2 ssd that has been announced seems like it will offer great performance for a price better than most ssd's.

Might be worth a look.
