Network adapters?

Ok im trying to understand what these are really for. Are they for like networking between a lot of local computer(like say at an office) or are they meant to boost speed over your on board networking?

uh no, a Network adapter is your NIC Card, whether it be ethernet or many older technologies, it is what your computer uses to access the internet.

Why, are you having connection problems or something?

no, i just saw it and wondered what they were.

I should also mention that it is also used to connect to an intranet. ( A Internal Network usally business related, or another example would be a network of a highschool, but most intranets connect to the internet at some point)
