Default Need some recommendations- Budget $350

My buddy wants to build a pc and thats his budget - $350
Is this possible?
he doesn't care much for gaming, he might play sims 2...so something along that range.

Idk where to start...i havent built a pc from scratch in a while now so i'm not sure whats a good budget mobo/ram/cpu...etc.

Thanks!

This is pretty decent.

cpu:
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core black edition Processor - Processors - Desktops
Promo code CPU345 knocks off $5

mobo:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
He can use the onboard graphics, which are pretty good

ram:
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

psu:
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies
Promo code MARCH10 knocks off like 10%

hdd:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
Could go for an 8mb cache for $5 less

optical:
Newegg.com - LG Black 22X (CAV) DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X (CAV) DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

case:
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER ELITE 335 RC-335-KKN1-GP Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

Total is like $365 w/shipping, then $20 mail in rebates.

Newegg.com - Foxconn A7VMX-K AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
$15 less, 3100 GFX vs 3200 GFX (meh to the difference)

Newegg.com - AllComponents 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
$7 cheaper. No overclocking, so no need for higher grade RAM.

Newegg.com - Rosewill R218-P-BK Black 0.5mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
$22 less. Lesser quality, but more than enough for a cheap system.

It's hard to go intel on a budget. AMD is way better in the budget builds field right now.

Trotter, you had some nice ideas there with parts, and good job Evolv on finding those. A nice little build there. :P

That's not really the only difference...really, the "heat capacity" you speak of is mostly the difference in die size.
